Experience an engaging professional development opportunity with our Math Workshop Collabsite on Thursday, April 24. The cost of registration is $295 per attendee.
Designed for educators teaching PK to grade five, this workshop emphasizes a deep conceptual understanding of mathematics over rote memorization. Participants will explore effective teaching strategies such as 3 Acts Tasks, Math Talks, small group instruction and Number Talks to foster fact fluency and number sense in students. The workshop incorporates open-ended questions and exploratory tasks that spark curiosity and necessitate deep thinking. With high floor, low-ceiling activities, math stations/centers and explorations, educators will learn to create an inclusive and dynamic learning environment.
Classroom Observation
Participants will observe a live classroom session, focusing on specific elements such as student engagement, instructional methods, classroom management and resource use. Observations should be non-intrusive, allowing teachers to maintain their everyday routines.
Debriefing and Reflection
After the observation, participants will reconvene to discuss their observations and reflections. Facilitated discussion on what was observed, including strengths and areas for improvement - sharing best practices and strategies that can be applied in participants' classrooms.
Action Planning
Participants will develop actionable plans based on their observations and reflections - setting personal and professional goals to implement new strategies and techniques in their teaching practices.
Follow-Up
Schedule a follow-up session to review progress, share experiences and provide additional support. This allows for the continuation of professional dialogue to foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.
